Ford Transit Connect's 4F27E Transmission

Ford Transit Connect’s 4F27E Transmission

posted by Mark S.

Ford in its wisdom has put together the 2009-2013 Transit Connect with a 4F27E automatic transmission. Prior vehicles Ford used this transmission on were the Ford Focus, Fiesta and the Ford Eco Sport. All smaller cars of limited weight. Why they designed a small delivery van with this transmission is unknown.

To date we have rebuilt no less that fifteen Transit Connects with the common problem of the final drive in the transmission failing. The final drive is the ring and pinion set that delivers power to the front axles.

The final drives don’t seem to be able to handle the weight or load of the vehicle. This would not be our first choice of a delivery vehicle.
